Greece during Easter week or August
Hi Everyone, This is my first post here.
I'm from India. I intend to travel to Greece (Athens-Mykonos-Santorini), either from 30th Mar - 8th April, or in August. Those are the only time slots are when we can both take a vacation.
I am a fairly experienced Europe traveller, who has not seen Greece. I'd prefer to visit outside peak tourist season, with less crowds. My girlfriend has her heart set on Greece and I'd like to make it a memorable vacation for her. I'm aware that the week ending Apr 08th is Easter week in Greece and I'm told touristy places may be dead or closed. I understand the weather can be unpredictable too, thought the average April temperatures are fine with us.
I would ideally like to visit in the latter part of April or May, but that is not possible.
My concern with August (our dates are more flexible within that month) is that it may be too hot and Mykonos and Santorini too crowded. We come from a hot country and have grown up around beaches, so the sun and sand will not be a big part of our trip. Our intention is to experience is little of Greece - the atmosphere, food, historical sites, culture and have a relaxed time together,
When would be a better time to visit ?

Having spent the whole month of August in Greece twice I would avoid doing that again at all costs. Your March-April dates are less than ideal but if those are the only 2 options you have I would recommend you going in March-April.
