Benicia NO they cannot work Delphi in. And besides, Delphi is rather "iffy" right now since so much of the site apparently is blocked off for repair, renovation, whatever. Everyone should stand back from Delphi until it is clear that the site is largely accessible again.

Any recommendations for hotels in or near Nafplion ? We would like a four or five star property.

Spinesgrn (and WHAT does that abbrev. stand for??? I've been puzzling!!), there are several luxe hotels right IN town, but you should really check out the TA reviews ...

NAUPLIA PALACE -- up on top of town, super view, building built by govt then taken over by pvt owner... reviews call it overpriced & not sufficiently updated from 1980s look ... pool.
AMPHITRYON -- directly below N-P, a "sister hotel", same pricing structure, has pool but has been out of action for 2 seasons (why??) .. reviews are mixed, price high.

* My recommend -- GRAND BRETAGNE -- No relation to the Athens G-B. This one is right on an open plaza facing the sea & sunset ... no reviews yet, because it was just renovated in early 2009; I walked by it on my 5/09 stay and was very taken with it; close to Main Square but an open airy feeling; a traditional building totally updated. http://www.grandebretagne.com.gr/ is informative website (but why do these sites seem to feel they need music?!?!?)

No pool at Grande Bretagne, but you're going in July -- to swim you'll want to go either to the cute stony beach just on the other side of the peninsula, or hop in your car and go to a sandy beach 15 minutes away. Tolo Beach will be jammed, but there's a fork in the road half-way there -- to the right is Tolo Beach, but straight ahead ... in 200 yards there's a little beach gem ... Asine. Tiny taverna too... and if you walk around the Asine Fortress ruin, theres a loooong sandy beach. BYO water/snacks... no taverna or umbrellas.
