GREAT WEB SITE [WIKIPEDIA]
 

A great web site for information on every city and town is WIKIPEDIA. I have found it is easier for me to 'google' or 'yahoo' any city/town and the 'wikipedia' site will appear. Search this way rather than go directly to the site, because it can be a little more tedious. INCREDIBLE INFORMATION on transportation, climate and, 'well I could go on and on. ENJOY Iris

Yes I also enjoy the Wikipedia site. I look up cool rock n roll albums all the time. Like the Thriteenth Floor Elevators.You can find all kinds of neat stuff on there. One day, I was looking around for Saas Fee stuff. Wikipedia came up and had some good info on Saas Fee.

Also check out http://www.wikitravel.com, travel guides created with the Wiki ethic. (In case you don't know, Wiki's are pages that are community edited, first started by Wikipedia but later expanded into more specific areas.) I found some useful info on Basel when I was there a year ago.

Another great thing about Wikipedia is that they post the coordinates for most things you'd like to see as a tourist. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eiffel_tower for example and in the upper right corner you'll see its coordinates. You can cut/paste those into Google Earth and fly right to it. I planned my last trip using three things: TripAdvisor to find sites to see, Wikipedia to find their location and Google Earth to find it on a map (oh...and Fodors of course). It really works well when you have dual monitors, Wiki in one and Google Earth in the other. I almost feel like I'm there.
