mercy - If you have not used the card to shoot pictures since you reformat, you may still be able to recover the files.

rkkwan's advice about not using the reformatted memory card is right on the money.

The Kingston Technology technician asked me if I continued to take photos after I discovered what I had done. I told him that I shut the camera off and never turned it on again.

He said that was the best thing I could have done because the recovery process would have been more difficult, if I had continued taking pictures.

aj,

How wonderful you recovered everything. All the helpful information on here may assist others if a similar fate ever strikes.

I downloaded Stellar Photo Recovery from
http://tinyurl.com/2y3fmp You can download for either PC or MAC a trial version. The full version is about $40 and they have 24 hour toll-free tech support.

I have used it once and it worked like a charm.

Any idea how it became corrupt, was it through the security scan?

Just an Up-Date: After spending some time researching the various recovery programs available on the Net, and talking to others and reading comments here, I decided to take the SD card in to the camera store where I'd gotten the camera and do some of my developing. For $35 (which I thought was reasonable under the circumstances), at least 95% (as far as I can tell) of my 336 pictures were recovered. Price also included the 14 index cards with the thumbprints and the CD.

Maybe someday, I'd purchase a program, but I hope that I never have the "opportunity" to do it in the future. Thanks for all the advice.

After the fact, I noticed today on the pkg. for my 512 card, that SanDisk does have an 800# and will do recovery at a discount price. And you can also purchase their RescuePRO software. Ciao!!mhm
