great Rome restaurant

Spent two weeks in Rome, frequenting many different outdoor cafes. Happened on a superb restaurant that was under new management and chef, and therefore underpriced for the quality and imagination of the food. It is called Il Gonfalone on via del Gonfalone, steps from the Tiber, not far from Piazza Chiesa Nuova. We ate there twice it was so good, and we will long remember those meals. Recommended absolutely.

Since this is the only post from bourtonhill, it likely is advertising. But let me metion another restaurant a short distance away on the Via di Bianci Nuovo very near the same Piazza Chiesa Nuova. The place, Locanda Pasta e Ceci, is family run, inexpensive and the food was excellent. We much enjoyed our meal there a few months ago.

Il Gonfalone on via del Gonfalone? Isn't that the place that was in the papers because of the three people who got poisoned on the food and finally the police shut the place down discovering a laboratory for growing germ warfare cultures in the restaurants refrigerators?
