great quiet place to stay in Bath, England?
 

We're hoping to find someplace as quiet as possible and definitely with large (king) size beds (two twins pushed together is ok). Would prefer air-conditioning. Trip will be early August next year and it's not impossible, I suppose, that it could be quite warm. Since we value real quiet, don't like to leave windows open. Can spend about $300 U.S per night, perhaps a bit more for the right place. We won't have a car, so parking not important. Like good size bathrooms and rooms. Doesn't need to be luxury or elegant-- just very comfortable and quiet as possible. Much appreciate suggestions. (We're in our late 70's, though not sure whether that's relevant.)

I stayed at the Bath House B&B in June of 2009 and loved it.
Sorry I am not tech-savvy enough to provide the link but you can just Google it and you will see the website.
King rooms are from 85.00 to 119.00 pounds per night and it includes a full English breakfast which was delicious and you got a carafe of tea or coffee with that.

They do have air conditioning, and also windows that open.(I like to have the breeze, and it wasn't too noisy.It was a very warm day and they had the A/C on to cool the room down for my arrival) The rooms were nicely decorated and the bathroom was spacious with a lovely big bathtub.(with shower in the tub)
The bed was very comfortable with lovely linens and pillows.

It was central to everything I wanted to see and there was no problem walking everywhere.

Air conditioning in early August- you're more likely to need heating!! :))

Villa Magdala is a lovely B & B near Henrietta Park. Close to city centre yet quiet location.

We tend to not enjoy B&B's as much as hotels-- prefer the privacy and anonymity. I've tried every kind of earplug, by the way: none has ever worked.
I'm looking into Threeabbeygreen-- looks possible (though it's right on a street-- I wish we could be back some, e.g. perhaps among gardens)
What's MacDonald's like?

Uh - Nope -- it is on Abbey Green. That isn't a 'street', though deliveries might be OK - not sure about that. It is a pedestrian precinct. You can't even drive to the place. I'd think it would be MUCH quieter than most city centre locations.

In the States there are areas that also are called "greens"-- but they do sometimes have a little street attached. I saw what was clearly a road (not just a green space) and assumed that where there are roads, there are vehicles.
I'm not committed to staying right in town, btw. We go to sleep earlyish (10-ish), and aren't interested in any sort of night life. I wouldn't mind at all staying a bit out of the city center, but we won't have a car, so I'd like it to be no more than 20 min or so walk into town.

It isn't a 'road' - it is a pedestrianized square.

The on-line brochure even states >><blue>pedestrianised area, and it is not possible to drive to the front door. .</blue><<
