Great price on ticket to Greece...should I book now?

I'm flying open-jaw from IAD to Crete and Athens to IAD and after weeks of checking prices, I found a fare for $955.93 from Flycheapabroad.com (thanks Ira for the recommendation of this site). Should I jump on this price now? Since I'm traveling in September/Oct, I'm thinking that prices may go down. What say you Fodorites?

Thanks,
jdc

I don't know how long you want to stay in Greece, but if you take a look at Go-today dot com or Air France Holidays, opr even Vigin Vacations, they have airfare including 6 night hotel for about the price of airfare alone PLUS (and this is what I like) you can name your own return date meaning you can stay as many extra days as you want at any hotel you want or for that matter anyplace else in Europe, before flying home for the included airfare. they have Athens At Its Best, or Island Hopping, etc etc etc. S'matter of fact I'm thinking of booking for the Fall when prices are lower.

Thanks for the information Mahya2. I'm planning on being in Greece from Sept. 3rd to Oct. 2. I will check out that site.

That price sounds pretty good. We went to Greece this past Nov and our daughter went in Sept. We each got fares of $900 inc taxes from IAH.

As you know, predicting fares this far out is really difficult. Adding to this is the economy. If there is slow down this summer, I'd expect some fall specials but those usually aren't offered until late summer. Guess it depends on how much you want to chance it, but I'd feel pretty good about $955. If you take it, just don't look back.

Thanks dfr4848, I'm definitely leaning towards purchasing at that price and never looking back.

BTW, I so enjoyed your detailed trip report. I intend to use it as a guide for my trip.

By the way, what exactly is IAD??? Hard to tell if it's a good deal if we don't know the location... I admit that I often use the shortcut of NYC and Philly, But I believe most people, even from Europe or Australia can figure out that this means New York City and Philadelphia. But IAD? A city? an airport?> Iowa at Des Moines? Illinois Air-Drome? Please share...

Thanks Heimdall, I have that link, but I don't like to have to look up codes, to de-code a message from someone who wants tips from us. I feel similarly when someone wants advice on what hotels are within their budget, and gives us a figure like $80, when European hotels --at least budget ones-- are mostly quoted in Euros. I feel it would be considerate for the querier to use a currency exchange website like http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to convert to Euros, so we don't have to, before we advise. But that's just me.

jdc - thanks for comment on trip report. Hope it helps you. There have been so many good reports/comments on here for Greece that we found them invaluable. Have a great time.
