Great Paris Bistros
We are spending 3 days in the Marais district of Paris and would love suggestions for interesting restaurants in Marais or nearby areas. We love the Ille de Cite area as well. We want casual or slightly above, about $50 pp per evening...

click on my name for my trip alone staying in the Marais.

While not all specific to your local area, there are some ideas in this earlier thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...is-bistros.cfm

I think Chez Denise fits the bill. Excellent food. Old-fashioned Les Halles market atmosphere. Closed weekends.

I love the restaurant "La chaise au plafond". It's a lovely restaurant located in the center of Marais in rue du trésor.
|
We lived in the west part of the neighborhood for 3 years and 2 favorites that our visitors always like were Le Hangar and Dome du Marais (although I have heard from some that it isn't as good as it used to be). Both are on trip advisor. Not sure either is really what you might think of as a bistro but Le Hangar especially is cozy and nice.

I have been to Le Pamphlet several times and have never been disappointed there. Great food and excellent value. 38 rue Debelleyme in the 3rd arrondissement, 01 42 72 39 24.
Restaurant Itineraires, 5 rue de Pontoise in the 5th arrondissement, just across the Seine from Ile de la Cite. I had lunch there. It was probably my best meal in Paris. 01 43 29 03 66 |
One on my list is Guirlande de Julie at Place des Vosges. It is owned by the Tour d'Argent and Rotisserie du Beaujolais company. it gets good reviews. You may also want to try RdB, located along Seine, Left Bank, across from Ile St Louis.
Ma Bourgogne (also PdV) used to be on my list, but reviews seem to indicate it's gone downhill. |
It's not a bistro, but La Guirlande de Julie is one of my favorite restos in Paris.
|
I spent a Valentine's Day at the Guirlande de Julie, very good.
|

http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...s-in-paris.cfm laidback i hope it isn't so. |
try "Au Bougnat" at 26 rue Chanoinesse. Just a few blocks from Notre Dame.
It's one of our "go to" restaurants and we've been there many times. It's juat a small rather plain room behind the bar, but great food & wine at very reasonable prices. We love the steak & frites for around 20 Euros each. There is a wonderful girl , named "Boom", who runs around doing everything. She speaks English and is very helpful. www.aubougnat.com |

Le Buisson Ardent is a half block from the Jussieu Metro station (Line 7) toward Rue des Ecoles. Nice dining room, interesting food and short but well-chosen wine list.
