Great News ! The Amazing Race is Back !
 

I've been away for a while and don't know if anyone has already posted this, but CBS has announced that the Amazing Race 5 will debut on July 6th with a 90 minute special. Big Brother (which I don't watch) will also debut a new series that day and one of the finalists from that show's last series will be a contender on AR 5. You can read all about it on the CBS newsline (I don't think that the AR5 website is up yet) and apparently it will be more difficult on the contestants this time round. Something about having all your excess cash taken if you are the last in to a pit stop but were not eliminated. Apparently they were in Banff, Alberta recently and had to build Tee Pees along the Bow River near the Banff Springs Hotel. I was just there for 3 days this past weekend staying at the hotel and if only I'd known this before, I'd have asked around ! Can't wait for the series to begin.

It looks like they also are taking applications for AR6; due April 13. Let's see, I could work on that, or our taxes.....

I do love watching this show. I like to see how each team/couple handles stress and the fast decisions they have to make. Like the scenery, too!

ms_go, because we have traveled together since the age of 15, I think you and I would be the team to beat on AR6! Of course, our more current travel partners may object...

I'm game...but I'm afraid you will have to arm-wrestle mr_go. We've actually printed out the application before but never had the time to do anything with it. Now that I have all this time on my hands, maybe just maybe....

Thanks for the good news Mathieu. We Great Race fans had participated in a rather long thread months ago, hoping the series would continue and now here we are looking forward to a July debut! Will be fun to discuss the series in the summer. Hope we have some easy to like contestants!

Finally saw an ad last night for the RACE! Mark your calendars - July 6. Can't wait; who are those Moms?!!!

I saw a bit of a commercial too, but don't remember anything about the "moms." They noted it would be more difficult, with longer trips and more demanding challenges. WOW! Can't imagine what could be harder than some of the things couples were put through on previous shows. Shanna--my calendar has been marked for several months.

For all those addicted to this show -- I've seen the preview twice tonight. The two-hour premier of AR6 will be on Tuesday, November 16, and it looks like they are starting this race in Chicago.
