great hotel in Portugal

just want anyone visiting the Cascais - Estoril area of Portugal to know about a hotel that I consider the best I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. It's a little north of Cascais on the Atlantic Coast and it's called the Hotel Guincho. It's the most romantic hotel I could imagine! It is a renovated castle and they have a wonderfully secluded beach. The hotel is right up against the Atlantic Ocean so the waves pound the walls all the time. It's a hotel waiting to be discovered. Tell me if you agree.

Betty-we're going in Sep 99 to Portugal. Could you provide details on this hotel: price for two and public transportation access? Thanks. Obrigada.

Cascais is located on the seaside west of Lisbon (roughly 14 miles) and is easily accessible with a motorway. Road indications are clear.
Jackie,
The name of this hotel is Praia Do Guincho - Hotel do Guincho. It's 5* hotel at 36000 esc per night (about $200) and the rest of the info:
2750 Cascais, tel(01)4870491/2/3/4
fax(01)4870431. I have not been there but heard it's magnificent. We are going to Spain and Portugal at the end of September and may be will stay at this hotel. It's a splurge for us but....
Have a good trip.
Just taking this opportunity to say again how beautiful and impressive this area (Estoril coast) is. (If you've read my past posts re Portugal, you know this was my favorite).

Yes, Estoril
I used to pass my summers there from 15 to 19 years of age. Close to Cascais a little fishing village gone upscale, Casino do Estoril, Sintra and his history and beaches of Guincho and Carcavelos on the the way to Lisbon
Night Life was great, Coconuts in Cascais starts at 12:00 until 6:00am with dancing right into the beach, After leaving the nightclub his the closest bakery and order some bread, ask for some butter and hit a cafe, Go home and take a shower, Then go to the beach and relax the remainding morning. Have some lunch and take the train that runs from Cascais to Lisbon and get in Belem, See some historical sights and then shopping
Sound good
