Great Hotel in Latin Quarter?

Looking for a 2-3 star, clean hotel in Latin Quarter. Good beds would be nice.

lincasanova Jan 9th, 2007 05:31 AM

i enjoyed hotel sully st. germain on rue des ecoles.

they have promotional rates for around 80 euros/night.

free lobby internet.
small bathrooms, but pleasant staff. good transport connections.

there are many recs on this board if you do a search for paris hotels

so many of these hotels are virtualy around the corner from each other that just check out reviews and book one as soon as you see a price you like.

most can be cancelled three days in advance with no penalty.

Hotel Monge is a favorite on this forum. We have stayed there twice and sing its praises. Do a search on this forum for Monge.

HI T,

What's your budget?

((I))

I have to recommend Hotel Bonaparte. Will beat Ira to it! :] Can't beat the location. It's close to the Latin quarter, in a wonderful area.

I can also recommend Hotel Monge. Spotless and small but also safe and homey.

We stayed at claude Bernard in 2003 - it was quite clean, good staff, etc but I don't know the most current reactions. have seen good and not so good. Excellent location - lift, A/C etc.

I agree with lincasanova: Sully Saint Germaine is a great hotel. Very nice staff and nice rooms. Also you can check out the Moderne Saint Germaine, which is right down the street and owned by the same people (at least they were when we were there). I belive Moderne has breakfast included Sully does not. Either place you choose would be a PERFECT location in Paris. Both have websites you can check out.

Hotel Pas de Calais... my wife and I love it. Right off blvd St Germaine and near Metro, many restaurants and some famous ones ... check it out. In the 6th.

We have been fans of the Hotel du Danube on Rue Jacob - great location. No AC though. Check its web site.

We had stayed twice at the hotel St Jacques on rue Des ecoles, great location, good service and nice rooms, ask for one with views of the Pantheon, one block from the metro, walking distance to Notre Dame and restaurants.

Thanks All!

Budget is 80-150 euros. Of course, we'd like to find a clean hotel with good beds for 80-100.

We liked Dacia Luxembourg, but it gets mixed reviews on Trip Advisor. www.dacia-paris-hotel.com Right on St Mich near Sorbonne.

I sent my friend to Hotel Monge because of recommendations here and she liked it fine.

BikerScott Jan 9th, 2007 03:33 PM

Jamikins and I have also stayed at Hotel St. Jacques twice, and will most likely stay there again if (when) we go back to Paris - the rooms are comfortable, the location is fantastic, lots of restaurants around, close to the Seine, the Pantheon, La Petite Perigourdine next door (our favourite wine bar in all of Paris), safe area, friendly staff, nice lobby etc...can't say enough good things about it (there is a bad review or two on TripAdvisor, but very definitely the exception rather than the rule).
Incidental interesting fact about Hotel St. Jacques - it's the hotel Audrey Hepburn stayed at in the 1963 film "Charade", also starring Cary Grant.

Here's another vote for Hotel Monge. :)

Thanks All!

Any feedback on Hotel de Varenne in 7th. Is 7th too far from Latin Quarter and other sites?

jengoestofrance Jan 10th, 2007 08:32 AM

Le Michelet Odeon. Modern rooms, beautiful area, quiet at night (unless france wins a match in the world cup) and affordable - 80E.

CRV Jan 10th, 2007 09:03 AM

We also really enjoyed Hotel Sully St Germaine. And, when we were there, a few years ago, they served a great breakfast.
