Great Hotel Bars of Paris

This is from a magazine, France Today.
The endlessly chic=Hotel Costes,
terribly sexy=Hotel de Crillon,
class act=bar fontainebleau,
the temple of style=bar du Plaza Athénée,
the utterly discreet=bar Anglais at Hotel Raphael,
The gentleman's bar=Hemingway at the Ritz,
the decadent=Lut'ece and Ernest bars at Hotel Lutetia,
there were a few more mentioned. The only one I have been to was at the Ritz and was surprised to see only Americans.
Has anyone been to the others? I suspect very expensive.

Nice list, :)
Been to the Crillon, the Ritz and the Lutetia..also been to L'Hotel bar and that was really nice too.

walked through hotel costes and saw the private sitting areas in and around bar and mini courtyard.

VERY nice and eccentric. great music.

Romantic sophistication--the champagne bar at Sofitel Dokhan's in the 16th.

We've been to five of the bars on your list and of those, liked best the Raphael and the Plaza Athenee. The PA now tends to attract a loud, uber bling-bling crowd (thanks in part to Sex & the City), so we prefer the lobby salon instead, a great spot for a pot of tea. Quiet luxury, perfect--unless you get a few men intent on smoking particularly aromatic cigars.
The Raphael seems to attract a LOT of good looking Italian men dressed in impeccable upscale casual style. At least, that's what we saw when we were there. Mmmmm...

Hi, BTilke, it takes me awhile to type so here are the rest with their descriptive title:
The Impossibly Romantic=Dokhan's bar at
Hotel Trocadéro Dokhans,
The Suspiciouly Mod=the bar at Murano Urban Robert,
The Anglophile's Choice=Duke's Bar at the Westminister,
The New Kitsch=Ice Cube at Kub Hotel

Only at the Costes will you find a French crowd; the young and beautiful dressed in black-on-black. Mere mortals, like us, may prefer the Meurice which offers live jazz in the evenings and a limited menu which is quite good, albeit perilously expensive.
