great find in Rome

We visited Rome to take my mother to her father's town in the hills of Abruzzo. We deceided to hire a car and English speaking driver instead of doing it on our own. We were lucky to find www.romeinlimo.com on line and Duman, our expert driver and guide. He was attentive to our needs and an expert driver and guide. He was able to get us to the town and find a relative. My mother is still talking about the experience. Duman also set up a private tour of the Vatican Musuem for us. We will definitely use this company again in our future travels to Italy. We have kept in touch with Duman and hope to see him again whenever we visit Italy. This is an A+ company.

Hi J,

Great post about romeinlimo. I missed the part about when you were in Rome, how long you stayed and maybe a trip report.
Your only other thread was about a upcoming trip to Munich written about 20 mnutes after this one.
I'd better warn you, some skeptics here may think this is an ad for romeinlimo.

Maybe Joan and Duman are lovers??

Mango7 Nov 24th, 2006 08:32 AM

Not impossible in Rome.

Travelnut Nov 24th, 2006 03:55 PM

well, joan also posted about going to Munich so does that help..?

Sorry to disappoint the romantics, but Duman and I are not lovers, except lovers of Italy. We arrived in Rome at Easter time and needed to get to a remote village in Abuzzo, San Martino Sulla Marraccino. The ride was 2 hours up windy roads. We encountered road construction and a closed road. We were glad that we had someone to guide us.
If you have never taken a family heritage trip, I hightly recommend it. It is a memory of a lifetime. My 80 year old mother was very emotional to see her father's hometown.

Hi joanofarc21, that's great you got to take your mother to a visit of her father's town. The private car company and driver sound excellent.

I'm sorry you received the typical Fodors 'welcome' because of your first post.

A search of "romeinlimo" brought up several comments over the past year. I didn't see any complaints, and there were several positive comments about Duman.

Wow, I really appreciate good tips like this--it's exactly why this blog exists! I hope that Joan's "reception" by some elitists among us doesn't turn her off using this blog. Most of us are really nice people either looking for or sharing good advice like this. Let's try to be kinder.

I am sorry if I gave the readers a wrong impression about my intentions in recommending romeinlimo. When I started planning the trip I didn't know where to start to find a private driver and car for our purposes. I was just happy that I found someone who was so reliable and worked with us so easily. If my enthusiasm causes some people to be suspicious I apologize. However I am new to the blog venue and may be somewhat niave. Maybe I am just a more positive person than some.

joanofarc21, you don't need to apologize. There have been instances where it is blatant that a new Fodors member is advertising, but apparently some people here feel that that is true of every new member. What I don't get is this theory it seems some have that only if a member is established (i.e. has x number of posts already to their name) then their recommendations are legitimate and never ever would that particular poster be considered to be a shill.

Oooo. I recommended Francesco Marrapase as a driver on the Amalfi Coast. Does that make us lovers? Hey, a girl can dream, can't she???!!!!!! Jeez, don't tell my DH that I posted this! Hahaha

I heard those Limo studs are good at seducing Italy-awestruck American women.

Not funny. Just stupid.

You resurrect a three-month old bad joke just to make a comment? And your comment is that it is stupid? Hmm.
