Please remember these are winter fares with blackouts, etc. Fares will return on their upward trajectory for those traveling in spring and summer.

Minimum 10-day stay, max. one month, departures Jan. 9-March 27, additional baggage fees may apply, buy tix at least 14 days before departure day = which is academic since the first possible day of travel is Jan. 9 and you have to buy tix by midnight tonight...

If you can live with all that, it can be a deal!

From the website:

Yes, there are a bunch of restrictions, but it's still a great deal for some folks.

I generally use Icelandair when I go to Europe as you can easily arrive in one place and return from another. I do not go to Europe in winter because it is not fun to be restricted to inside activities. The best fares are always when people do not want to go. I generally pay about $1100 using Icelandair. Of course, you do have to change in Reyjavik. There are no miles (unless you join Icelandair's plan (not worth it for most Americans) and you do have to pay for food. Once I get into one of their European airports of entry, I hope a cheap intraEuropean flight to my final destination if the aiport destination isn't it. I leave about 4 hours when I reserve subsequent flights to avoid missing a flight. Never had a problem.

The fares posted might not include airport taxes--which can take a severe bite out of your budget and add dramatically to fares.

I very often fly into one city and home from another . . . and have never flown Icelanair

>>I do not go to Europe in winter because it is not fun to be restricted to inside activities.<<

I have been to Europe many times in winter and have never been stuck inside.

I fly from the west coast and have only once paid as much as $1000 in coach - my last 5 trips over the last 2.5 years have averaged about $900 (which is what I paid for MFR > EDI/LHR > MFR last April and SMF > LHR last month)

Icelandair does not fly to the West Coast. You have to check when you want to go to see if it is good for you. It has worked well for me. As with anyone, it depends on where you are flying from and where you are going. I generally go to Europe during the summers because that is when I get home exchanges. Most of the US-Europe deals occur in July & August, although occasionally I snag a deal at another time.
