Great accommodations in Dover or Canterbury?

Our cruise embarks from Dover and I'd like to do a couple of land days before we board ship. Looking for a very restful place to lodge. Doesn't need to be luxury hotel, but absolutely wants to be very very comfortable (good bedding)and quiet.
Thanks!

Dover is kind of a dump...Canterbury very place and a great base.

But does Canterbury have any terrific places to stay? Main thing is that the hotel be very quiet, great beds, etc. I.e. not around "action."

don't know but no doubt it does...and though in my observations there are a lot of cheap hotels and B&Bs in Dover there seems to be a lack of good hotels...especially after the Eurostar took much of the tourist transit trade away from the town. a town most down at its heels last time i were there.

Hi, I'd agree in staying in Canterbury. I can't help you with specific choices, but whilst you wait for someone more knowledgable to reply, check out this website http://www.canterbury.co.uk it has hotels etc for Canterbury plus surrounding areas. If you find one you like you can then ask specifics about it.
