Gravescon/Avignon

I have an opportunity to spend 2 weeks in Gravescon in August; I am told it is a town near Avignon. Can anyone please tell me anything about the area or the town(s)? Have never travelled in France other than in and around Paris. thanks!

Do you mean Graveson, which is a little town near Avignon? If so, I stayed there for three days last June, in a little hotel owned by the sister of a friend. Graveson itself is nothing to write home about; it is a typical small southern French town, not very interesting. It has a candle factory and a perfume distillery. However, if you have the chance to stay there, it makes a good base for visiting more interesting places such as the village of Les Baux, St Remy, Arles, If you are talking about Graveson and you want to know more, let me have your e-mail address and I can answer any questions.

thank you Ainhoa. This is for a home exchange and I am told the town is Gravescon, near Avignon...however I assume it is a misspelling and you must be correct(I WILL verify)...Any info on daytrip recommendations will be greatly appreciated. [email protected]

Roberta, it is a nice typical Provence village. If you can book earlier. at the end of july thet have a wonderful Fete, that of saint Eloi with flower filled carts horses, bulls ..and ..followeded by dinning with the locals. There is an Abby there Saint Michelde Frigolet, a museum of flavor and perfume in a beautiful old barn, a museum of a once local painter(can't remember his name<BR>and the next village you can visit the home of Mistral now a museum (in Maillane)There are fountains surrounded by cafes where you will mingle with the folk at apertif time.

Ainihoa, I am curious if your name is from a beautiful village we stayed in in Basque Pyr&eacute;n&eacute;es in France?

Yes, I did take the name from the French Basque village. It is also a girl's name in the Basque part of Spain.

There is an interesting article in the recent issue of FRANCE Magazine, about wonderful gardens in Gravescon, which seem well worth a visit.
