Grandmere:

Have appreciated past information regarding Hotel du Lys. Would like to discuss some specifics. I'm at [email protected] if available. Thanks.

Grandmere. Have you heard anything new on the US Airways front?
I had tentative reservations for an apartment in Portugal but they want a deposit and I do not know what to do. I cannot get any information from them concerning refund of deposit.
Wondered if you have any news.

Sher, the last I read was that the machinists had not agreed to what the airline was asking for; that was soon after the flight attendants settled.

You have a real dilemma; I have no idea what I would do, given no info about refund on apartment.

I just keep thinking that they surely won't fold, but it happens.

I've made reservations for 3 nights of our May trip to France but kind of lost enthusiasm for booking the rest for obvious reasons. On the other hand, I just invited cousin and his wife to join us (they will fly another airline, probably) so I'd better get some places for us to stay!

Have you tried communicating on phone with the landlord, or is there a great language problem?

I doubt if anything will happen with USAirways now until Jan.

Wishing you and everyone luck with this,

G-mere

Grandmere,I will let you know my opinions June 27th, I will be leaving Paris that day..Anyway, the people, when I made the reservations seemed quite nice.
I inquired about their triple rooms and in what floors were located..It seems that they have extra in different floors..
After I told them that I have back problems and would like something in the first floor, they told me that they would keep in mind my request.

I knew of the triple on what we would call the first floor, but I didn't know that there were some higher up. I did stay in a single on their "first floor", just a short spiral up the winding staircase!

Kismetchimera, kindly post or email to my above address where triples, other than the ground floor, are located.

du Lys has been very responsive to emails. I'll report back to you and Grandmere after our April trip.

Grandmere, Happy Holidays. Enjoy your break!

Grandmere. I called the woman for the second apartment and asked kindly if she would be patient. But of course if she has a chance to rent the apartment she should.
I also asked if she would take a personal check. She certainly has enough time to get her money and it will cost me another $15 to send her a bank check. She says she will check with her bank if they think she can get a personal check cashed. Frankly, I don't see why she would not be able to.
I read yesterday that the judge will give a final decision on Jan 6 to void current contracts.
I also read that United pilots have voted to take concessions. Maybe they will hold on a little longer.
I also did a lot of research for this trip initially, but felt discouraged by the liquidation reports. But I have my room reservations and car reservations. Just need to bone up on the tourism points a little more.
Have a great holiday.
