Granada's Realejo district?
Hi all,
Can anyone provide a brief description of the Realejo district of Granada. I'm thinking of booking a room at the Room Mate Shalma for a couple of nights in mid-October and want to make sure it's in a good, vibrant, lively, interesting, central location. But I'm having a bit of trouble finding info about th eRealejo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! |
Hello,
My memories of the Realejo (haven't been there since the 90s when I spent 6 months living in Granada) are a bit hazy, but I remember thinking that it felt quite similar in spirit to the Albaicin (even though historically it was the Jewish quarter of the city). The "main" square of the Realejo is el Campo del Príncipe, which has plenty of bars and cafés. OK, have just looked up the location of the Room Mate Shalma, and I now realise that the school where I studied is very close to that hotel. So in terms of the location, I'd say it's good, certainly within easy walking distance of central Granada (cathedral district, Plaza Nueva, etc.). I'd be happy to stay there. |
The area's fine, below the Alhambra hill. Close enough to everything.

Thank you so much.
Has anyone stayed in the Room Mate Shalma? |
Hola,
Didn't stay there as I live in Granada... but it looks very attractive from the outside. The area is exactly as you described it : livelly, vibrant... full of great tapas bars ! Hasta luego, Christine in Granada |
