Granada - Things to do?
Hello helpful fodors advisors,
We will be going to Granada for 2 nights in July. Does this sound a good plan for what to do in Granada? We arrive around 2:00 by bus from Cordoba. We are staying at Al-Hambra hotel. We were not sure if we should buy advance afternoon tickets (+ next day tickets) for the Palace, since they close at 6:00. Also we were not sure to see the Palace at night before we see it at the day time next day. Is it a good idea to explore Granada city on the day we arrive, such as Arabic section and sunset view to Alhambra. Sleep early. Next day go to 8:30 tickets to Al Hambra spend the day until 2:00 afternoon. and then take 10:00 evening tickets at the palace. is that a good plan? what shall we do on the night of arrival? what shall we do between 2:00-10:00 next day? do we do to Granada again? or is that too much back and forth? after second night in granada we take train to Seville. Does anybody have Maribel files on Granada. She was so kind to send me her Seville/Cordoba file and it is so great. Thank you all, Sue |
you should make sure to find the courtyard that allows you to see the alhambra in profile, it is beautiful.

Hi Sue,
If you are getting to Granada at 2pm, I'd check into the hotel and walk down to the town. Wander around Albacian (sp?) and the Arabic section (it's only about 2 blocks, but they are fun), have some tapas somewhere, and then end up at the Mirador of San Nicholas to catch the sunset. Then have a nice dinner in town before heading back up the hill. The next day, go to Alhambra in the morning as planned. When you leave, go back into town for lunch, visit the Roman Baths, visit the cathedral and the Crypt of Ferdinand and Isabel, etc. If you are adventurous, you can go up into the caves in the mountains. I didn't have time to do this, but any tourist booth can tell you where to go. Have a great time! Karen |
Karen: the last time I was in Granada, we tried unsuccessfully to find the Roman baths. do you have any suggestions/directions on locating them? I'm leaving for Spain on 3/31 and plan to spend a couple of days in Granada, including going to a hammam (which I read about here on Fodors, of course.)
thanx in advance, gail |
