Granada - Hotel recommendations?
Hi there - we're planning to spend 3 nights there in October. Visiting the Alhambra both once during the day and once at night will be key for us, so I am guessing that a hotel not too far away would be ideal but am not sure. Since we don't yet have Alhambra tickets, a hotel that could get them for us would be great! (I will contact them in advance to check, hoping a resourceful concierge will be able to help).
We're not travelling on a budget as it's both our 20th wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday, though we do want to be sure our money is well spent. We prefer to go independent rather than chain, so we're thinking smaller/boutique. Good internet access from within the room is a must, as we will still be checking into work here in Canada. We won't have a car so walking distance to major attractions/key parts of the city is important. Any suggestions will be appreciated! TIA - R. |
We stayed at El Ladron De Agua on Carrera del Darro, very close to Plaza Nueva, restaurants, and the Granada Cathedral. It is in the Albacyn. We took a taxi to the Alhambra. Very easy.

you have answers on other forums. Have you read them?

I second El Ladron De Agua - a lovely hotel in a great location.

Have you checked out the Hotel Washington Irving? It's right across from the Alhambra.

We stayed at the Hotel Guadelupe right across from the Alhambra based on annhig's recommendation on another thread. I will quote her verbatim
"Here's another hotel to add into the mix for Granada - the Hotel Guadelupe which is right opposite the main entrance to the Alhambra: http://www.hotelguadalupe.es As you will be spending so much of your time at the Alhambra it's a very convenient place to be, but it's also a very nice comfortable place to be with a good restaurant, big rooms and nice bathrooms." Cabs were inexpensive enough that we took them to the center of town using rain as our excuse, but really we were too lazy to walk and saved our energy for several trips to the Alhambra. There are a few hotels across from the Alhambra, but this was closest to the ticket office / entrance. There are a couple of hotels within the Alhambra complex too, one is the parador (good for a splurge), and the other is the Americana, but not sure about how the internet access is from there. https://www.hotelamericagranada.com/en/ |
We had a superb stay at the posada right on the grounds - beautiful room, helpful staff and you practically roll out of bed into the gardens. restaurant was good too.Don't underestimate how steep the hills are leading to the palace itself. We were there last June and I almost fainted just walking to pick up our tickets. (it was about 100 degrees F) enjoy your trip

Try for the Parador in Granada. Tough reservation but you might get lucky. That is the posada that the last poster mentions. It is long walk from Alhambra to center attractions, and a long uphill walk back.

We loved the Allhambra Palace.

Another vote for the Alhambra Palace Hotel. A 5 minute walk to the gate of the Alhambra, and the hotel has an amazing terrace overlooking the city of Granada.

Thanks for all the tips! Many of the hotels were taken, and others didn't fit what we had planned while in Granada. In the end we booked the Hotel Room Mate Leo. Not exactly the location I was hoping for, but close. And the hotel itself looks very nice.
