Grønlandseksperten

Please does any one have any experience or knowledge of an agency in Copenhagen called Grønlandseksperten which organises travel to Greenland?

Are they "experts" or "SexPerts"?

;)

Curious minds want to know!

Best wishes,

Rex

Not having a devious (or should that be deviant?) mind I assume the former.

Michael,

Are you trying to plan a trip to Greenland? I was there last year, had a wonderful time!!

My travel was arranged through a Copenhagen travel agency, Arctic Adventures.

alfisol,

Thanks for response. Glad to hear you enjoyed Greenland. What time of year did you go?

Yes. We're planning a trip next year but our requirements don't fit with the usual operators' packages. We're wanting to take the coastal voyage from Narsarssuaq to Ilulissat, spend a few days there, then a short stay in Kangerlussuaq before coming home. The packages go later than we were thinking of (mid June compared with late May) and don't give as much time as we would like.

Discovery The World (UK) and Greenland Travel (DK), both major players, do the same tour and may be able to help with a special programme.

However whilst researching I was given the name of Grønlandseksperten by a company in Ilulissat. Grønlandseksperten's website is only in Danish so it's hard to find much out about their background. However they seem very helpful and flexible in their emails. I was hoping to find someone who had used or knew of Grønlandseksperten in attempt to establish the reputation of the company.

We actually went there in early January 2005! I wanted to experience the dark, the cold, and the Northern Lights.

We were in both Ilullisat and Kangerlussuaq for a few days. It wasn't as dark as I thought it would be, but we didn't see the sun. It was cold, but not colder than northern New York state gets some years.

The Northern Lights were everywhere around Ilullisat -- too cloudy in Kangerlussuaq unfortunately. We went dogsledding in Ilullisat (fabulous), walking on the Ice Cap (day trip from Kangerlussuaq), and much much more.

What a place - I do want to go back there sometime in the summer.

Good luck planning your trip. It's worth the time and money.
