[QUOTE=scdreamer;16792650]Yes, that would have been a “Plan C” option. We are using diesel, so would have had to hang around and wait for someone also using diesel.QUOTE]

Huh? Why would you have to wait for a "diesel user", when you could silently (and easily) push the diesel button instead of the gasoline button?

How much work is it to google french for diesel?

How badly could one mispronounce gazole, to the point a Frenchman couldn't understand what you meant?

Did you stop learning the afternoon you graduated?

Banks generally do what it in their economic interest. They are not doing it because they don't think it is. Also, I don't know the percentage of fraud, but every single time there has been fraud on my cards, it was online and that does zero to guard against online fraud.

I don't think the hold up is so much the banks as it is the merchants--there's not much point in US banks issuing chip and pin cards unless they can require US merchants to use chip and pin readers, and that's going to impact the bottom line for merchants. Card readers are probably cheaper than the used to be, but I'm sure it's still a significant expense, whether you're talking about a small business (say a restaurant having to buy hand held chip and pin card readers) or a huge venture (imagine the cost for a restaurant chain to convert all its machines). As a consumer who travels to Europe, I'd love to see us get on the same page, but I realize that wholesale conversion would be an expensive proposition.

Well, that was helpful, tomboy. Who ARE you?

We we weren’t even discussing anyone not understanding how to get diesel in France, but I guess you aren’t much for reading before responding. How rude you are.
