Venice-St Marks Square to cruise terminal

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what is the best way to get from St. Mark's Square to the cruise port in Venice? Also, do you think it's a bad idea that we are staying in St Mark's Square or would you recommend a different area?

Thank you!!!

Alilaguna, line blue, connect the cruise terminal with San Marco. Check schedules carefully.

There are also 2 areas of the terminal, Marittima (for larger ships) and San Basilio (for smaller ships.) Be sure you know which one you want.

No, you should not worry about staying elsewhere. You don't say how many nights you will be there, but it is the center of everything, and it is absolutely magical very early in the morning and very late at night without the crowds.

Thank you everyone!!! We are only there 1 night...the cruise ship is docked there for 2 additional days, but I wanted to make sure I had enough time to explore some things off the beaten path since I was in Venice 1 1/2 and saw most of the major attractions. Everyone else that I am cruising with has either never been to Italy or haven't been there in over 40 years.
