Gourdon, Provence restaurants

Has anyone dined at the Taverne Provencale or the Nid D'Aigle?. We are thinking of making a stop in Gourdon to view the terrace gardens laid out by by Le Notre.

We looked at the restaurant but didn't eat there, as I have a bit of an aversion to heights. The view looked fabulous, and Gourdon itself is delightful. The gardens are quite wonderful, and looking from them out over the hills an down and down to the valley below is marvelous--if you have no aversion to heights!

Underhill which one did you look at?

The appropriately named Eagle's Nest.

Patricia Kaas sings "Noir Aigle" I'm wearing out my CD.

Now, you did say "making a stop" in Gourdon? Are you thinking of doing that on your way somewhere else? Where???

Stopping there and then on to the Alpilles(friends there)Camargue and outside Poitiers(other friends) and a night in Normandy near giverny before heading back to Boston. Gourdon, because we by passed it last year.

Cigale,

You probably are aware that the trip out to Gourdon takes at least an hour over twisty mountain roads--more if you're behind a tour bus. But just in case someone like my husband has said "Oh, the map indicates that this is a very pretty drive" and doesn't mention anything about the actual road, be warned! Better plan on a minimum of a half-day for the round trip with lunch and a quick look around.

Worth the journey, though. Enjoy!

thanks, we are used to it. We'll spend the night in Touretts at The Auberge de Gorges de Loup because I want to see the gorges and that wild area we missed last year.

Good planning! Have you taken the tour at the confiseries shop?

Cigalechanta -have you stayed at the Auburge de Gorges de Loup? I looked at the website and it looks good. We are also looking for a place in the area as we want to see the Gorges du Verdon.
