Gothenburg AND Oslo?

If I'm going to spend a day or so in Oslo would a couple of days in Gothenburg seem a little redundant? They are both relatively recent port cities of approximately the same size?

No, they are different enough that you would probably find interesting things to do in both, and close enough together (a few hours by train) that they work as a pair.

Gothenburg has almost a mini-amsterdam feel with the canals, plus archipalego of rocky islands, interesting waterfront with various vessels converted into restaurants and hotels, opera house, park with butterfly house and just generally a nice relaxed feel for wandering.

Oslo has Vigelandspark with the sculptures, national musuem with Munch gallery, Bygdoy peninsula with multiple small museums like Fram and the Vikingships, and great views from Hollmenkollen.

We spent 2 days in Gothenburg. I liked the hip foodie vibe of the city and it does have its charm with canals.
