Goslar

Any info on Goslar-hotels restaurants sites ?

Only can comment on Goslar itself - the whole town is the main sight - wondrous harmony in pastel-hued edifices - one of the nicest towns in Germany i've been to.

You can find a lot of information at www.goslar.de/englisch/index.htm.

Indeed, Goslar is a jewel that should not be missed if you happen to be in the area around the Harz.

Argh. Clicked "submit" too early.

My personal Goslar tips and photos can be found here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/eb1b/

Take your time. There is more than just market square and Pfalz/castle. Stroll through the narrow streets and explore the hidden spots off the beaten path. You won't get lost, there are little signposts for pedestrians everywhere that will direct you back to market square or whereever.

Thanks for all the help.
We're leaving Tues.
Hopefully eating weise Spargel by WED. !!!

Arrgghh... I hate Spargel...
You may have my serving, too!

Anyway, the asparagus season is in full swing. The region a bit further nord around Braunschweig is a famous Spargel region so you will get local stuff. Enjoy, and have a great trip.

quokka: wonderful information. My wife and I will be staying near Bad Grund and will have three days to wander through the Harz. Can you tell us where the railroad begins that will take us to the Brokken summit? Danke vielmals.

quokka Apr 25th, 2009 11:21 AM

The railway line begins in Wernigerode.
If you have a car, you can also park and board the train halfway up in Drei Annen Hohne.

quokka: THANK YOU! That is exactly the information we needed. I see I did not spell "Brocken" correctly -- but we know where to drive and catch the train now! That train looks like such fun. And so much easier on our old legs, too.
