Gorge Verdun to Nice by Car
Any idea whether we can leave Aix by car, have lunch near the Gorge Verdun and make it to Nice before dark?

It will be a very long drive. Keep in mind that the Grand Canyon du Verdon (so nmaed on the Michelin road atlas) is not off a superhighway, but rather the roads start twisting long before the canyon. It took us the good part of a day to go from Draguignan to Grasse (not quite as far as Nice). For only one day I would not consider the Grand Canyon du Verdon a priority.

Try Google map or viamichelin.com to get a sense of distance and time, but add 25% to any estimate, if only for pit stops and a lunch stop.

I sure wouldn't count on it.

What time of year? "Dark" now is about 5:30pm. Dark in late June is 9:30PM. I've never been a big fan of the Gorge du Verdun - compared to the Grand Canyon in the US or the Gorges du Tarn in France. I certainly would not want the Verdun Gorge to be the only thing I visited for one entire day of my (probably) too short vacation. Moustiers/Gorge/Riez maybe, however.

Thanks. It'll be late May, but the roads on the map didn't look like one would make great time.
