Good website for London hotels? Hotels with kitchenettes?
I'm looking for a site where I can get detailed info on London hotels, in different price categories, including interior pics.

Also, is there such a thing in London as hotels with kitchenettes or full kitchens (like suites in the US?). Like many here, I have reservations about apt renting, but would love the option of cooking in.

Another option would be an apartment or condo building that is used ONLY for tourists and includes some maid service (like you often see in the Carribean). The only one of these I've found so far is too far outside the city for my taste and looked kind of shabby.

Take a look at
www.smoothhound.co.uk

You'll find lodgings throughout the UK; those in London are organized by neighborhood.
Many of the listings link to the hotels' websites with directions, maps, and photos.

hotel-assist.com also has pictures, prices, categories, etc.

www.londontown.com is an excellent source

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Hyde Park in a 3 bedroom/1 bath apartment with a kitchen and washer/dryer combo. I found basic picture on the web at the comfort inn website. Apartment was basic but clean and spacious. Only complaint was we could hear the people above us walking and unfortunately they stayed up late and got up early. Decent location and would stay there again.

Josey,
We've stayed at Scala House Apartments (they have a website) and the entire building is apartments for tourists, all 9 floors (4 apts to a floor). They provide maid service (cleaning, fresh towels, sheets) every 3 days. It's not ultra-luxury (i.e., antique furniture, 4" carpets, etc.) but it is clean and comfortable. Kitchens were, in fact, very nice with all the modern appliances including a small combo washer/dryer.
It's very handy having a kitchen, we use it for breakfasts and snacks and an occasional dinner too. Incidentally, these apartments are large by London standards, all are 2 bedroom and have a full bath and another with just sink and toilet (very convenient!!!) Plenty of closet space too. The owner, Ken Palos, is very pleasant to deal with too I might add and he is on-site most of the time too. I might also add we had great views of London from our 9th fl windows!!

You won't find suite hotels (Embassy Suite types) in Europe - if they exist at all they are few and far between. You could also check out Citidine Apartments, they are run like hotels with maid service too I believe (never stayed in one). Their floor plans look incredibly small tho so that's a turn off for us since we are used to more space.
I stayed at the Nell Gwynne apts (I believe the website is nellgwynne.com) in Chelsea. They have kichenettes, a desk open in the lobby all the time, maid service every day except weekends. I thought the price was good and they have studios, one bedroom, etc. The neighborhood is great (a couple of blocks of Kings Road). There are 2 tube stations a few blocks away and a Safeway market a couple of blocks away. Feel free to e-mail me directly if you have any questions.

I stayed once at the Chquers of kensington. They have studios, one and two bedroom apartments. Location is wonderful, close to Gloucester tube station, the accomodations are of a good size, with kitchenettes, and daily maid service, besides breakfast. Might be what you're looking for.

Check the photos and additional info at:

http://www.the-ascott.com/OurResi/Re...42&t=Other&r=4
