There's no outdoor seating at Breizh Cafe, but I plan to go again next time I'm in Paris. Perhaps you can request a window seat. The people-watching inside the restaurant is still fun; it's a very popular place.

Sorry, no, there is no outside seating at Boullion Racine. But please don't let that stop you. It is exactly the "authentic" Paris restaurant you are seeking.

Brasserie de L'ile St Louis and Cafe Hugo were lunch stops I went to with outside seating and views of street life and Paris.

hi suze,

butting in on the OP's thread, thanks for posting the link for the Bouillon Racine. I've been looking for a nice place for a late lunch in St. Germain for our last day in Paris when we have an early evening flight home. somewhere that opens all day is ideal.

that suckling pig looks yummy.

regards, ann

my pleasure, annhig. I'm far from a Paris expert (having only been there once so far) but we found this place one day (fairly near our hotel) just wandering around and went back for dinner that night. It has oodles of ambiance! and the food was pretty darn good too.

You will be very near Place de la Contrescarpe, a charming small square just up the hill. Cafe Delmas is not a gourmet spot but it offers good, solid fare in a choice of seating, including outside (or in cold weather enclosed.) It's south facing - good on a chilly day. Also, it is at the top of rue Mouffetard, which is loaded with small, inexpensive eateries and shops.

Also not far away is le Buisson Ardent, which is a near the Jussieu metro station. Has a fine menu (32 Euros) and good carte du vin. No outdoor seating, though.

Near the Marais, there is a lovely restaurant under the arches at Place des Vosges called La Guirlande de Julie. Seemed like an all local crowd when we stopped for lunch, which was good, but the room is the star. Can't vouch for dinner, but it has all the right pieces, and outdoor seating.

Where abouts at the Square is that restaurant? Last time I went I thought I would locate Ma Bourgogne, based on recommendations, to see about dinner that night..,but did not find it, and went to Cafe Hugo for lunch. Guirlande would be another one I've heard of, I've been to its sister restaurant the Rotisserie du Beaujolais (but not the other sister Tour d'Argent!).

I endorse the recommendations given you by Likelivingthere for Cafe Delmas on Place de la Contrescarpe and for La Guirlande de Julie under the arches of the Place des Voges. If you can stretch your distance just a little to get to the Place Dauphin across from the Palace of Justice on the Ile de la Cite, go for lunch to Paul there or to Le Caveau du Palais also on the same square/triangle. The plane trees are wonderful and the light filters down through their leaves to create the perfect outdoor atmosphere. Both restaurants have outdoor seating and good food. They tend to fill up with locals from the law courts, so you either want to be there at opening or have a reservation.

Michel_Paris: La Guirlande de Julie is (at least was) on the north side of Place des Vosges, to the left after you pass through the gate. I think there is another restaurant near to it, so be sure to get the right one.
Address is 25, Place des Vosges
