Where are the best places to eat(not overly expensive) around the Shannon airport, Galway, Doolin, Dingle,Cork?

Gail-in Dingle I can recommend The Old Smokehouse and the Mystic Celt. Though both are not cheap, they are not too expensive. Both are well worth money-at The Old Smokehouse we loved the baked brie as a starter. At the Mystic Celt we took pictures of our food-everything was so pretty!

In Cork, try the Arbutus Lodge. Just west of Galway, there's a fabulous and atmospheric restaurant called Drimcong House. For less expensive fare near Galway, there's Moran's on the Weir (great Galway oysters, chowders and Guinness). Doyle's has simply prepared, but superlatively fresh seafood in Dingle.

You'll probable be going through Killarney. If so go to the Failte Hotel on High St. The resturant is on the second floor. We found it to be the best food in all of Ireland. They also have a great bar.

If you want a feel of what Ireland is - skip over Cork and go to Kinsale - Kinsale is a lovely town and is known to be the gourmet food capital of Ireland. You will not know where to eat as ther is just so many places and lovely scenery. last time I was near Cork we took one look at the city and headed out - being from Chicago - it looked like being at home

Gail, In Dingle the Smokehouse was terrific the medallions of pork were great. Murphy's Pub was o.k. I had the Irish stew. You will have to go to the Dingle Pub just up the street from the Smokehouse it is picture perfect. In Galway we ahd a nice meal at McSwiggan's...be sure to eat in the restaurant rather than the pub. In Doolin the Doolin Cafe! It is tiny and you will need a reservation..your b&b can do this for you. Make sure to go to Gus O'Connor's for a pint and wonderful music.

Boliusce (sp?) in the town of Spiddal is about a 15 minute drive West from Galway and incredible. It is located in the center of town on the N side of the road. Their brown bread is the best we have ever had. Seafood is the specialty, they serve a great lunch, but seating is limited so call ahead for dinner reservations. If you can time it right, Standuns is also in Spiddal and has the largest selection of Aran sweaters that we found (as well as many other items). Standuns is closed on Sundays. In Dingle, walk into any of the pubs down by the Docks and enjoy the freshest mussels you will ever get. We paid 7.95 euro for a huge bowl and were stuffed. Doyle's in Dingle is nice, but you will be surrounded by tourists. There is a great little wine bar right across the street from Doyle's. We ate at Cullinan's (actually a B&B) in Doolin and it was wonderful. Nice wine list too. If you don't have accomodations in Doolin, I would highly recommend it. All pubs are within 5 min walking.
