Good EATS in Venice?Florence?Rome?

We am plainning a trip to Italy, our first, and need to know if anyone has any suggestions for restaurants in Venice, Florence, and Rome.

Florence: I like Baldovino (excellent brick oven pizza) near Santa Croce.. and some may say this next one is overpriced/touristy -- but I loved Rivoire across from Palazzo Vecchio. Had a wonderful night there with 3 girlfriends over the greatest desserts in the world... we hung around there until late at night, just sitting outside in the piazza and talking...

This is almost like saying "I'm going to the mall - - can you suggest some clothes I might get there?"

But what the heckm I'll assume you are asking about high end.

Venice - - www.anticomartini.com - - don't be put off, if the website seems a little bit cheesy' its a great and classy place.

Florence - - head up the hill to Villa San Michele, which has a Fiesole address.

Rome - - Vivendo, the dining room in the St. Regis Grand.

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks Rex for the suggestions. You are right- question was vague. Enjoying the cusine of the area is always a highlight of our trips. Anymore suggestions? Tuscany? We do prefer the middle to upper scale restaurants as long as the food is good. Ambience is not nearly as important as the quality of the dish. I certainly trust opinions on this website.
thanks to all.

Hi

My wife and I went to Milan and Venice in June last year. The best meal we had was at Trattoria Antica Bessetta in San Polo in Vanice. I have written a review of it in my trip report (including some pictures) from Venice on my personal homepage www.gardkarlsen.com :-D Maybe you can find some other useful information there as well. Have a great trip

Message: As for eating in Venice, I can report good experiences at Ai Falciami Birreria. All the more amazing that it rates favorably is how centrally it's located - - less than 200 yards from the "front door" of Basilica San Marco (the one furthest from the water's edge). Usually places at "tourist central one" offer poor food, bad prices or service. We thought it rated well on all three accounts in 1998 and 1999 as well.
