I have heard that Quadri (or Quari) is a great special occasion restaurant. It's in the San Marco area.

I would recommend Flaschetteria Toscana.
We have dined there several times & it has always been very good.I have heard very good thing about Al covo. We will try it this Oct. Also buy a vaporetti pass for the number of days you will be Venice. Then can jump on & off as wish.
Enjoy my favorite city in Europe.
This approach has been questioned by some on this forum before - - but it is the best way I know to direct you to some of the great previous threads on this subject.

The following is a re-compilation of some of the best threads from the past that discuss Venice restaurants:

"Please help me navigate this site so I can find restaurants in Venice"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

This thread, in turn contained the URL's of several other threads (in the so-called "new format" - - no longer usable). Here they are, in a form that works now:

"Looking for a wonderful restaurant experience in Venice"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

"VENICE-RESTAURANTS?"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

"Venice restaurants recommendations"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

"Da Fiore, Venice, Italy"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

"VENICE RESTUARANTS"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

"Most romantic meal in Venice?"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...rame&keyword=&

Best wishes,

Rex
You may find good eats in Venice but you will not find GREAT. Probably the only place in Italy where you can go wrong. But try Corte Sconta

If you don't mind to splurge, do make reservations at Da Fiore.

Paulo
