Good Dublin restaurant
 

If you are in Dublin, I highly recommend "Gallaghers" in Temple Bar area. I just returned from a trip to Dublin (been there before), and made a return trip to Gallaghers. Great food! Try a traditional boxty or Irish stew. It isn't a "foodie" place, but a restaurant most folks will love. I've taken my Mom and my husband here- both loved it. Good atmosphere, too. boxtyhouse.ie

I think its a bit of a touristy place i.e. not great quality but you know what we all like different things and if I had a bunch of people on a trip from abroad i have been known to take them to the Gogherty upstairs for dinner or Johnny Foxes. When i a on my own I would probably go to another place though. There really is no "irish"home cuisine anymore just carvery for the masses and a few restaurants in Temple bar.

Never tried the boxty there though...last time I ate i had a belly ach from my aunties mix...never told her. :-)

Padraig, Ate in Darwins on Angier street last week...excellent food and menu and even a veggie menu with more than 2 items ! Great steaks.

Siobhan, I'll make a note of it, but I haven't had a proper meal out in Dublin for months -- just a pub lunch in Drumcondra a few weeks back.

I had a great seafood special in An Port at Rossaveal (Connemara) last week; my next restaurant meal will probably be in France at the weekend. Darwin's will have to wait!

I would take France over Darwins any day!I never eat in Drumcondra even though I live nearby. Tried the cheese pantry though and it was ok. Great idea for the area but the food was pricey for just a handmade chesse and tomato sambo and No salad or anything with it . They sell nice cheese and wines though but the wait service is pretty awful. Met the owner when I popped in a few weeks back to check it out and buy cheese. Nice guy but they need to stay on top of the place.

Ate again in Darweins last night for a business dinner....still in a food coma! Tasty
