Good Choice for a SIM card?

We will be in Arles, Avignon, and Lyon for about 10 days and then in Paris for about 30 days. First, we have an afternoon in Paris, then TGV to Arles. We have decided to bring our old 900/1800 mobile phone to use for calling within France rather than the terribly-expensive per minute use of our iPhone 5s.

What would be a good SIM card to buy when we first arrive in Paris that has good service in all four cities we will visit? Where would be a good place to buy it? We will be near Chatelet and Parc de la Tour St. Jacques that first jet-lagged afternoon and evening evening in Paris.

Find a SFR, Bouygues Telecom or Orange mobile store and have them activate a sim. You will be able to recharge it anywhere in France.

Make sure you old mobile phone is unlocked!

Robert2533--Thank you for the reply. Do they all offer voice-only SIMs? We will have wi-fi in hotels and the Paris apartment for Internet use. Also, I heard that non-residents of France may need to wait a few days before a SIM account can be activated. Is this true?

You can order a free (well, with enough minutes to get you started - then you top it off once in France) Lebara SIM card from the USA. They'll mail it to your U.S. address: www.lebara.fr

Or do as Robert says. Any French SIM card will work anywhere in France. They're aren't location-specific. And yes, make sure your phone is unlocked.
