Good car rental company in Bulgaria?

Does anyone has an experience on renting a car in Bulgaria. I need some advices about renting a car there, driving around the country. Maybe I will need a GPS? Some of my friends recommended me to use this company- http://www.vegercar.com. It seems to be a serious company.

Hi Iuliana. I have been renting cars through Europe and specially eastern Europe during the past 5 years. First time I have used a local company in Hungary because of the price but got a very old car with lots of miles. Since than I have decided to hire through the big players, like europecar, herz etc. The price is a lot higher, but at least I am 100% sure I will get a new car.
Also a small trick in order to get a better deal is to book through a broker like www.victoriacars.com for example. In the price list when you get the cote you just select the company that will give you a car and the price and no hassel or any type of problems.

We have found a local company with rather affordable prices, it's Pro Rent a Car in Varna. Staff is young but understanding, we had our Ford Focus in time and everything went well.

I would establish an itinerary before renting a car. We thought of doing it, but because we were going to Bucharest from Bulgaria, and our main interests were cities, we abandoned the idea. For one thing, we could not drop off the car in a town on the border and the coast interested us less than the inland cities; the choice was to return to Sofia or to drop off the car in Varna.

Instead we used a tour agency and had private tours to Rila Monastery and Koprivshtitsa. For the rest of our travels in Bulgaria, we used public transportation. You can click on my name to find the trip report.

The link to the pictures does not work anymore, so fi interested, here is a new link:
