Good budget hotel in Paris?
We are looking for a good budget hotel in Paris - in the Latin Quarter, Montparnasse, Marais, for example. Location and cleanliness are our top priorities. We're interested in ambience more than in elegance. We'd prefer air conditioning, but it isn't essential. On the other hand, we don't want to have to walk up six flights of stairs. Any information will be appreciated.

I assume there's 2 of you? What's your prefered budget per night?
|
Also, when are you planning to go?

Check the Hotel Andrea, four blocks from Notre Dame on the edge of the Maurais by Hotel De Ville. 3 Rue Saint Bon, email [email protected]. Website hotelandrearivoli.com. It is a 2* that is clean, had an elevator and is well located.

Hotel Residence Monge fits your criteria. It's located in the Latin Quarter, has A/C, is very clean and has a lift. They also have rooms with French doors that open to a little terrace over Rue Monge, but be sure to request such if you're interested. The below link has prices and photos.

Not having any idea what you want to spend, I'll suggest the Delavigne in the 6th, rue Casimir Delavigne. No a/c.
Elevator. Some rooms are quire small, but the general condition and decor is simple, but elegant, imo. Nothing shabby, no plastic furniture. The bathrooms are nicely appointed and modern. |
There are also several web sites that have lists of hotels. One that shows quite a few budget hotels is ParisHotels.com. I'm sure lots of others can be found using your browser or googling. Good luck.

Have a look at Hotel du Marais..little 2 star hotel, very clean and with a great location, in le Marais..just near a metro stop..No A/C but an elevator.Staff was friendly with us...Nothing bad to say about this hotel..Really like staying there...

A second vote for Hotel Monge. I was there 2 weeks ago and it is very clean, pleasant and good value for money, and the location isn't bad either, within 5 minutes walk from the Pantheon. I paid 97 euros per night for 2 twin rooms (per room), one had a large bathroom, and the other a small shower which was perfectly adequate. We didn't have breakfast in, as there are any number of small cafes nearby to have a croissant and coffee. Place Monge is the nearest metro station, and a bus (no 45 or 47 I think) runs past every 20 minutes or so.

We spent one night at the Hotel d'Albe in the Latin Quarter in June. Very cold a/c, soundproofed windows and a spacious bathroom were some of our favorite points to the hotel.
Don't forget to look at www.venere.com and www.tripadvisor.com for hotel reservations and feedback. I learned TONS from them! |
My son is staying at Hotel le Jardin de l'Odeon,
7 rue Casimir Delavigne-http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006jardin_odeon.htm- three star -in the Latin Quarter- I just heard from him a couple of hours ago and he says it's terrific- about 95 euros, charming, fairly large with nice bathroom- just north of the Luxembourg Gardens... |
Just got back from Paris and rented a studio apt. that sleeps 4 in the Marais. On Rue Charlot. Seven nights or more was 99 euros per night. Apt. clean and you can even rent a laptop for 4 euros a day.Check www.rentparis.com. The agent in Paris is Fabrice and he contacted us by phone as soon as we made a request for info. We flet like Parisiens buying our baguette every morning and eating most of it before we got into the apt for breakfast. Good Luck

Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais in the Marais. Great location. Marais very interesting. Hotel clean, stylish, rooms small but distinctive. Has a/c.
152e per night in season, less after. |
Well, you've had a lot of advice, but I'd second the suggestion on Delavigne and also suggest the Hotel Elysa Luxembourg in the 5th. Check reviews on tripadvisor.com.
