Good backpackers in Paris?
Hi - im looking for some recomendations for a backpackers in Paris is anyone has one. Location is key, and, being a student, price has a big influence too.
Thanks! |
What's a "backpackers?" Do you mean a hostel? Hotel? Place to stay?
|
Oh Adrienne! Backpackers.....people who travel with their wordly belongings packed into a bag carried on their backs and stay in dormitory-like (or nicer) rooms.
j_student: Page 381 of FODORS Paris Guide has a page on the hostel scene. There is a new purpose-built 275 bed hostel St.Christopher's Inn, 68 Quai de la Seine, 75019 - email www.st-christophers.co.uk or phone 0140343440. Another large hostel is the Auberge de Jeunesse d'Artagnan FUAJ, 80 rue Vitruve, 75020. PH: 01 40323456 FAX: 01-40323455 or email: www.fuaj.org In the Marais the non-profit organisation MIJE Le Fauconnier, 11 rue Fauconnier/Fourcy at 6 rue Fourcy, Maubuisson, 12 rue de Barres PH; 01 42742345 Fax: 01 42740893 or www.mije.com Smaller hostels: Peace and Love Hostel & Bar, 245 rue de la Fayette - www.paris-hostels.com or Le Village, 20 rue d'Orsel - www.villagehostel.fr Lastly: Young and Happy Youth Hostel, 80 rue Mouffetard - www.youngandhappy.fr I want to mention that the price is around 19-30euros per night for sharing with 3-6beds, and 50-80euros for a private double inc. a baguette & coffee for breakfast. To me that is expensive. I am paying ( 20 days ahead of my arrival) 44euros for a doubleroom en-suite at the Ibis Hotel Esplanade la Defense. The rate has been as low as 38euros so do a thorough investigation of what's on offer. Best of luck. Tod |
Oh tod! I know what backpackers are - they are people. This person is looking for more backpackers??? And only the good ones???
|
Wow thanks for that Tod. Thats really helpfull.
And Adrienne, backpackers are people and the places that they stay in (equivalent to hostels). I guess it must be an Australian thing |
It must be an Australian thing!
I'm a few decades out of touch with backpacking (both the people and the lodging) but you should check the thorntree site which is full of backpacking people who can give recommendations on backpacking lodging. The big hostel organizations (hostelworld, IYHA, etc.) have ratings of their hostels and comments from people who have stayed at particular hostels so you could check that out too. The only hostel in Paris I can give a recommendation for (my niece stayed there a couple of times) is Aloha Hostel in Montparnasse. I think she checked a few places in Paris and thought this was the best for rating, price, location. |
