Hey Janis - I know Easy Hotel is not the best, but if you book well ahead you can get better deals and with a window - certainly not my choice but it can be a good deal price wise and better locations than Kings Cross!!

We stayed in a Holiday Inn in South Kensington that was very reasonable and in a great area. Sorry to say I can't remember the exact specifics, except there was a newer, more expensive Holiday Inn across the street. Ours was fine and I was surprised to find such a bargain in central London.

kmowatt: easyHotel is almost never a real bargain. Even booked ahead - you still have to pay for a window, the rooms are tiny (and the whole place is orange fer cryin' out loud - and orange is probably my favorite colour)

Just like on easyJet, last minute booking is downright expensive (at least on easyJet you do get a window) If one can book far enough ahead to get the best rates at easyHotel, there is enough time to find a decent place for about the same price.

aacree, I wish you were correct about Grosvenor, but you quoting a per-person rate. The rate for the suite you are considering is 85 pounds per night.

It could be worth it, particularly with ensuite facilities, that great location, and a kitchen, but it's definitely over your original budget.

WillTravel - I figured that out just as I was showing my wife and was going to book the hotel.

I have decided to try Priceline to see if I can find something. I started bidding in the Bloomsbury/Marble Arch, Kensington,
Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge, Mayfair/Soho, and
Westminster areas. I bid $85 dollars with no bites so I will up it tomorrow and try again.

I do have the current reservation as my backup plan, but I will keep trying to find something that will also work.

I liked the Gosvenor suite, but we won't need the kitchen facilities. The area is fantastic and the room looks larger than most other places.

A twin room at LSE's Northumberland House is available for your dates for 64 pounds, and the Charing Cross location is ideal.

That looks pretty good. I didn't catch the twin room because I just searched doubles.

Again, the location can't be beat for that place. I'm going to check with my wife at lunch and possibly book a room there.
