Good 3 star hotels in Lucerne and interlaken

Hi all,

I am visiting Lucerne and Interlaken in the month of June and looking for good hotels to stay there.

My criteria in the order of preference are:

1. Closeness to the train stations. This is important!
2 View from the hotel
3. Breakfast quality
4. Room/Hotel decor

I did some research reading reviews posted on the forums and a couple other sites. And this is the list I came up with in order of preference.

Lucerne:
1. Des Alpes
2. Waldstatterhof
3. NH Hotel

Interlaken:
1. BernerHof
2. Chalet oberland
3. Weisses Kreuz

Just wanted to check if people here have any other recommendations, anything to say about the list I have and anything else I should be to looking for.

Thanks!
~B

We like Des Alpes--best location in town. Did not stay there, but liked the look of Weisses Kruez.

I'd rate Luzern's Des Alpes, where we have stayed 3 times since 2001, as:
--A 10 for station closeness
--A 10 for view if you get an upper, riverside room
--A 10 for breakfast--combination of very good food (coffee, juice, meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit) nice, sunny breakfast room and terrace overlooking river
--A 5 for Room decor--though they have upgraded the bathrooms, which are very nice.

Also, I like the restaurant's riverside location and their fondue, gemischtersalat and, if they will have it in June, their raclette.

mr. go,
We must have had the same room.

We loved watching all the goings-on below from our balcony, especially on Saturday market day.

The Bernerhof (a Best Western property) is within sight of the Interlaken West RR station. Have stayed there in the past; clean, decent-sized room (nothing fancy) with balcony.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Here's how that looked from our room...
