I will be in Golspie in October to visit Dunrobin Castle. I read about something called the "Gathering Stone" on the website of the Clan Sutherland Society of North America but can find no information as to it's location. can anyone help? Thanks!

I think it is right in Golspie - but the tourist information center will be able to direct you.

We were in Golspie a couple of weeks ago visiting the castle - it is a very small town and not sure it has a tourist office but sure anyone would be able to direct you. The castle is wonderful.

Actually, there is a TIC in Golspie. It is seasonal so not totally sure if it is still open in Oct (I think it closes Nov 1) But if it is closed, as eliza says anyone can probably direct you. (and if it is closed there is a year-round TIC just down the road in Dornoch)

The Clan Sutherland's motto is "Ceann na Drochaide Bige", meaning "The Head of the Little Bridge"

This refers to the Clan's gathering place in Golspie, at which is the
Gathering Stone. The inscription on the lower part reads in English, "The
Chief of the Sutherlands Summons the Victorious Clan Sutherland to The Head
of the Little Bridge". There is also an old inscription on the top part that
is in Gaelic.

This web site which has a series of walks round Golspie, have a map showing how to get to it:-
