Going to Turkey in Oct. Need Side Trip Reco's!!
Hello All-
My wife and I are going to Instabul from Oct 8-Oct 19. I know we could spend the entire time in Istanbut, but we live in Manhattan and want a little countryside or beach in or lives. I know that to get some beach in we should go south as early in the trip as possible. I know the weather in general will be nice everywhere.
I have a couple of ideas for side trips (3-5 days). Trying to decide on one.
1. Explore the southwest coast. Spefically the coastal area between Fethiye and Antalya. I suppose we would fly to Antalya and rent a car and fly out of Fethiye...or vice vera.
2. Take a flight to Thessaloniki, rent a car and explore Zagoria and Meteora in Greece.
3. Take a boat trip around the Turquoise Coast. I would want something very nice and i don't really know anything about being on boats.
Thanks!

As someone else who lives in Manhattan and will visit Turkey in October, I think you would well advised to use the box above "View by country" and click on Turkey. There have been many discussion about the other areas of the country. And purchase a basic guide book.
It is your trip and it is hard to know what would appeal to you.

you could do what i have done twice....fly from ist to izmir, rent a car and explore the area of the famous ruins--ephasus (sp) and continue on to bodrum and then across the south coast---fantastic road along the sea--- going as far as antalya....
