Going to Rhodes!!!
Well, I found a way to visit Rhodes without too much damage to my wallet. Decided to go from Santorini to Crete and then from Crete to Rhodes. Original plan was Santorini to Rhodes, then Rhodes to Crete. Couldn't make that work via ferry and flights were not non stop.
Olympic Air on 7/3 Heraklion non stop to Rhodes , departs 20:45, arrives 21:40, for 196 euros. Then Olympic Air on 7/6 Rhodes non stop to Athens, departs 12:10, arrives 13:10, for 130 euros. These prices are for economy fully flexible seats. This price is for 2 adults and since we won't be taking the ferry from Crete to Athens as originally planned I can subtract the 80 euros for the ferry trip from the flight with a grand total of 246 euros which allows us to have the time I wanted in Rhodes. I am so excited now that all things are in place for our month in Greece! Thanks to all who gave me info via my other post. |
Congratulations on sorting out your plans! :-) The Heraklion - Rhodes nonstop flight must be something new, and sure enough it is showing up on the Olympic website. Well done for spotting it!

We flew between Rhodes and Iraklion - a very short flight and worth the money to enjoy more time on the islands. Have fun! We loved Rhodes Old Town plus the village and beach at Lindos are memorable.

Try this site for air fare. Seems much cheaper than 196euros, unless that was for two people. Richard kayak.com

All his quotes are for 2 people tho he doesn't always say so.

travelerjam; Actually it was mentioned the price was for two people. My mistake. But still check kayak.com

Never thought to check kayak.com for our domestic flights. The cheapest flight is on Cyprus Airways from Crete to Rhodes non stop for 206 euros for the 2 of us. I'm paying 216 euros for the 2 of us on Olympic so not a huge difference. The non stop flight from Rhodes to Athens was $267 USD for the 2 of us via Aegean vs. 130 euros for the 2 of us on Olympic. I think I did ok.
