Going to Paris!

We will be spending a week in Paris the last week of October. We would like to add another few days onto the trip, possibly in the South of France. What would you do?

The south should be nice in October, although that's almost November so not as much. I'll admit I've never been there at that time of year, it just is a summer place to me, I like it then. But where do you plan to fly home from? I'd suggest some place in the south if you go there, as it will be a lot of trouble to backtrack.

I might go to Nice or Marseille, actually, and both have major airports.

TGV to Avignon and TGV back to CDG for your departure. Pretty easy. And a great area to travel around in. Rent a car.

Thanks for the replies. We could add on to our trip before Paris, instead of after, if that works better. Where would you stay in the Loire Valley? We also thought of a river cruise, if that worked into our time frame.

In the Loire Valley big difference if you drive or Not, I have driven in the past enjoyed staying in Blois fascinating chateau inside the City and then I would visit maybe one or two chateaux probably Chambord.
Bu you can take train and then take a daily tour, a good central place is Tours, but Blois US a nice placer to be.

There are also local trains in the área which link different chateaux but if you only have a day ir two, i would definetly stay in Blois, walk to the Chateau of Blois, if in Season take a Light and sound show at night and also visit during the day. Previously refreshing my history regarding Catalina de Medici, Henri II ,the assasination of the duque of Guise etc and also Joan of Archivo because I think she stayed once in the chateau?
Chambord is totally different being huge it requeries some kind of transportation but it is Not Far from Blois.
