We found the hotel through this message board where it has been recommended a number of times. I seem to recall it also beinh highly rated on Trip Advisor. It is a little misleading in a sense because I think of a hotel as a free-standing structure. As you probably know, that is not always the case in Europe. This hotel is on the first and second floors in the back section of a building that surrounds a central courtyard, the upper floors and other sections being occupied by apartments. I don't remember which room we had but it was a "garden side" room that looked out over some trees in a very small courtyard behind the building. We were very pleased with our experience there.

The hotel is not in the immediate Duomo area but we found it easy to get around. The hotel is about 50 yards from The Last Supper church. Our first day in Milan, we just explored the area around the hotel, including the churches of San Vittorio al Corpo and Sant Ambrogio. The next day we took a tram (No. 16, I think,about 50 feet from the hotel -- buy tickets at the tobacco shop across from the Last Supper) to the Duomo. The Galleria and La Scala are very near it, then took the Metro to Castello Sforzesco and again to Cimitero Monumentale and ended with our visit to The Last Supper.

We were only in Milan for two nights, so I can't tell you how many restaurants there are in the area but we had a nice dinner the first night at Ristorante e'Uccelina, a couple of blocks from the hotel. The second night we had an even better dinner at Trattoria Meneghina and would have happily eaten there again if we hadn't left for Torino.

If you stay there, be sure to read closely the access information the hotel sends you. I didn't and couldn't figure out how to get in the building when the taxi dropped us off in the early morning hours. To enter the building where the hotel is located, one must enter via a drive-through which at 7am on a rainy Oct. morning is closed by a heavy wooden door. Fortunately, a man arrived to deliver bakery items to the hotel and got us in. If you read the materials, you'll know what number to dial on the phone outside the door.
