Are you too exhausted from writing that long list to ask questions?

Bring your list and do what you feel like doing when you get up every morning. You can't go wrong. You may not see everything on the list but you'll have enjoyed yourself which, after all, is the point. An up to date city guide will help with open times and locations.

You can walk by all these in a week.

You can even walk into the lobbies of some of them in a week, but you can't tour all of them in a week.

You can do your next step in one of two ways: by priority or by location.

If your priority is to see as much great art as possible in a week, go to your museums and use a hop-on, hop-off bus to drive by the other stuff.

If you want to organize geographically, list everything by its location and spend a day in each of the areas you define.

But no one can tell you what you ought to see.

Two things I enjoyed during my London vacation: Choral evensong at St. Paul's Cathedral (they also offer organ concerts on Sundays; just check their schedule) and a concert at St. Martin in the Fields.

When I visit London, I start at the National Portrait Gallery. It's a nice way to review English history and get in the right mood. I was there in July and the painting at the entrance was the controversial portrait of Kate Middleton--but head for the top and work your way down.

You do have quite a laundry list there.

Of them, these are really just walk-bys, walk overs, or walk throughs:

Big Ben
Houses of Parliament
Westminster bridge
Millennium bridge
Tower bridge
Green park
St James park
Buckingham palace
Trafalgar Square

The 'Majors' (taking 2 to 4 hours to get a taste) are:
Westminster abbey
Museum of london
Tower of London (at least 4 hours)
Tate Britain
Tate modern
Wallace collection
National gallery
National portrait gallery
Covent garden
British museum (at least 4 hours)

And these take an hour or two each:
London eye
Shakespeare's globe
The old operating theatre
Sir John soanes museum
Covent garden

One can usually only squeeze in two majors a day when you factor in travel and food/rest. Sometimes three when some are very near each other like the National/National Portrait or the Tower/St Pauls.

You can do the numbers -- one week isn't nearly long enough for all that . . .

I don't think I'm going to spend 4 hours anywhere to be honest……

The Tower is definitely a '4 hour' site.

But those 2 or 4 hour times include travel times/line queues etc. Even IF you only spend 2.5 or 3 hours the the Tower it STILL requires 4 hours to get there/tour/get back.

Your list is easily 2.5 weeks worth.

>>I've been to the tower before and it did not take that long<<

then you know . . .

I missed these three w/ all the gaps in your list.

Temple church
Charles dickens museum
Somerset house

You really do have 2.5 weeks worth (unless you are a walk in a place - look around quickly and 'yup, seen it, let's go' sort of traveler)

You seem sort of angry about it. The best thing about london is just walking around and the atmosphere anything you get to see is a plus. I may go outside the city instead.

It isn't depth necessarily. It is mainly a matter of size. Some of those venues are mammoth and take an hour just to see one gallery, find the ladies room and have a coffee.

Some are 'read every description' sorts but most aren't and that is perfectly fine. But just a VERY brief overview/glimpse of the British Museum takes a couple of hours. Same w/ most of the 'majors' on your list . . .

>>You seem sort of angry about it. <<

I'm not angry at all. It is your trip.

>>The best thing about london is just walking around and the atmosphere anything you get to see is a plus.<<

Of course . . however you have listed a very loooooong list of sites you want to see. That YOU want to see. It wasn't our list. You asked for help w/ your itinerary. The main way to see all those places is to double your time. If you don't want help/advice - why did you ask?

Well I was just bored and figured I'd ask advice on my trip…

It's just a travel forum right? I didn't think it was serious business.
