Going to Lausanne for 3 nights - need help finding affordable lodging

My husband and I are traveling with our 19 and 20 year old daughters to Lausanne, Switzerland in March. One of our daughters attended a french language school there for 4 months and she wants us to meet her host family. We will be there for 3 nights and will not have a rental car. I have looked a little on the internet for lodging but cannot seem to find anything that we can afford that will accommodate 4 people. We were hoping to keep it within $200/night. Does anyone have any suggestion? I am really stumped.

Hi LauriJo,

Most places in Switzerland charge per person, so fitting everyone into one room won't save a lot of money.

You can find good value by staying at a B&B, and you can search for one at

www.bnb.ch

You can search either by map or by town name.

You can also stay in the outskirts of Lausanne in Lutry or Cully (Lutry is a nicer little town in my opinion).

Have fun!

I've always been lucky enough to stay with friends in Vevey but thought this place looked good in central Lausanne. They have 4-bed dorm rooms available well within your price range.

Maybe in March you can get a suite at the Hotel du Port in Ouchy (the "southern" section of Lausanne, if you will) for around $200. From Ouchy you can get to Lausanne center with public transport. In reference to one of the other posts, if you do not have a car, note that Lutry is on the Lausanne public transportation system, but Cully is not. You can get to Cully by train though.

Ouchy is the 'nice' part of Lausanne right along the lake. If you can find an affordable place there, it's beautiful.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I have found your suggestions extremely valuable and am right now trying to book a room in the place recommended by suze. If it is not available then I will try a B&B.
Again, thank you so much.
