Check out which airline flies there non-stop. Then find out what type of plane they use and check out the seating conformation. I have flown all three airlines and in general prefer Delta. Air France has less leg room and Alitalia flies a lot of planes with 3/5/3 seating. We just flew Delta to Italy. The food was pretty good and the seats not bad. You now have to pay for drinks which I understand is standard for most of the airlines. I would take the airline that gets there the fastest with the least stops and fits in best with your schedule. Have a great trip and enjoy Barcelona.

All US airlines charge for alcoholic drinks, including international flights. You can have as much soft drinks as you want, for free.
There's no commerical airline in the Western world with 3-5-3 seating. Alitalia uses 767ER (2-3-2) seating and 777 (3-3-3) seating from the US.

thanks for the clarification, I was wondering if they started charging for the sodas too, I was going to say....
I knew they charged for alcohol.
Air France does use 3-5-3 and one time I was stuck on one of hte 5 seaters in the middle for 9 hours, how miserable....

Has Delta started charging for drinks internationally? If so, too bad.
I doubt you'll get non-stop flights on any of those airlines, but when I flew Delta to BCN a few years ago, the plane only stopped in Madrid and then continued on, thus there was no way to miss that connection. I've missed a couple on Air France through CDG.

Didn't know NWA still offers alcoholic drinks for free.
I don't know what kind of AF plane you find 3-5-3 seating. For the longest time, they've used 3-4-3 on their largest plane, the 747, just like almost every other airline in the world. If you're stuck in the middle seat of 5, then you may be on a DC-10 that AF used to operate (but not anymore), which typically has a 2-5-2 layout.

Personally, I would go with AF. My sister just returned from Spain flying AF all the way from IAH and they were very pleased with the service. I've also been pleased with AF going to Europe for every trip taken thus far.

Hi drummer,
In my experience
AF and Alitalia have better food than Delta,
AF and Delta have better cabin service than Alitalia
AF is the best choice.
If you will be in a 777 with 3/3/3 seating choose two aisle seats across from each other and fly at night.
