Going mad trying to find twin bedded room in Amsterdam! Help!

I have ruled out charm ie steep steps, whew! Prefer a lift.

I would like to be in a relatively central area-Jordaan, museum, station, etc.

I am looking for a quiet, sound proofed room with twin beds that are actually a few feet apart!
(But can give that up if necessary).
Room should be dark and have good beds.

I am happy to pay $250 a night for such a find.
And I am looking mid-week.

I would also love it if the room had some charm, at least not tacky looking!

Thank you so very much!

During what time period?? You haven't specified when you'll be there.

My BIL just got the Barbizon Palace using Priceline's NYOP
for $140 a night. The hotel's website shows some rooms with twins.

We stayed at the Moevenpick in 2007... seems to me the bed was one of those that can be pulled apart into twins. You could email and ask. We had a suite but the superior rooms have hide a beds too.

We just stayed at the Crown Plaza Central Station. It is only about three blocks walk from the Central train station - nice and convenient. It is located very close to canal boat departure point, a tram stop right out front, 3-4 block walk into the Jordaan area, decent walk to Dam Square, shopping, tour departure points are only 1 1/2 blocks away, etc. We had a king club room (free Internet+breakfast buffet+evening wine) for $238+ USD per night. Our 2nd floor, corner room, overlooking the street was quiet as a church and the drapes kept everything nice and dark. Very comfortable bed. Large baths, big desk, all the mod/coms. Good restaurants nearby if you don't feel like walking at night (we had some nasty rainy nights). All good. I would highly recommend.

I stayed at the NH City Centre on the Spuistraat with my mother and I got a twin-bedded room and I chose the hotel because it has a lift. The twin beds are not a few feet apart -- more like inches -- and although the lift worked just fine, the main entrance to the hotel has a steep set of stairs from the sidewalk to the door.

It is a really terrific location with several good modestly priced eateries and historic bars/cafes nearby. I was also delighted that the hotel is a converted clothing factory done in early Amsterdam School style and the hotel offers discounts for those who want to dine at the adjacent historic d'Vijff Vlieghe restaurant (I couldn't talk my mother into going with me).

Rooms that face the street are noisier than ones that face the canal, but they get better light and are more recently renovated, I think.

There is more than on NH hotel in Amsterdam, and I am recommending the City Centre on Spuistraat. As always, check out Tripadvisor for recent reviews. I stayed there 2 years ago.

You might look at Hotel Piet Hein -- it has the rooms you are looking for, is within your price range, and is located just across the street from Vondelpark. I recall a few stairs, but not too steep. www.hotelpiethein.com
