Going from Rome Fiumicino to Florence
 

We are landing at Rome, Fiumicino this Sunday at 1230pm, and plan on taking the train from Rome Termini downtown, to Florence

I understand there is a train that goes from the airport about every 1/2 hour, to the Termini. I am most interested in convenience, minimizing hassle, and speed. Is finding and taking this train relatively easy and quick?(our Italian is weak)

I figure the cost savings between this train and a taxi or shuttle service is between $30 and $40 total. I do not mind spending this if it will eliminate hassle and get us there faster, but would not mind saving the money if the train is a good bet. Thanks for any advice.

My sister and I went from Florence to Rome taking the rail; it wasn't a great experience. It's a breeze getting tickets and if you have any questions there's people that can help you in the information dept. however, we got there early for our ride but we weren't able to get on it anyway. The train was coming late but it was hard making out the announcement so we assumed it left when it didn't. I paid 57 euro for the rail and got in a slower and cheaper train/rail, thinking that we didn't have any choice ...wasted money really. BUT to me, it was one in million chances type of thing ...so I hope I didn't scare you and suggest you take the rail anyway ...it's cheaper however you wanna look at it. If your rail doesn't get in on time ...ASK around ...as many people as you want. If you do decide to take the rail, DO NOT forget to get your ticket stamp on the yellow stamp machine located on the wall for each train gate.

The train from the airport to Roma Termini is the Leonardo Express and cost 9.5E. If there are several people with you it might cost about the same to use limoservicerome.com We had 6 people and limoservicerome cost 10.5E each.

Did not realize you were doing detective work. Why dont you look at the time of my first post. For some reason my question never appeared even several hours after. I just assumed for some reason it never made it so decided to post again. Sorry if you were put off by the duplication, but I assure you I do not have the need, or the time, to post duplicate questions

was faced with this same problem last Nocember and decided to rent a car at FCO, drive the ring road and A1 north to Firenze, Four with baggage. Worked
out very well, encountered a traffic jam just before exiting at South Firenze, got into Florence, dropped off
luggage at hotel and returned the car.

Not detective work, just trying to help someone who may not understand the way the posts work. You post DID appear--it just moved down the list quickly when no one else responded. The more people respond to other threads, the deeper yours will be buried on the list.

I wasn't "put off"--just trying to pass on information that may be new to you.

While rail service from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini Station, and connecting Eurostar Italia service from Termini to Florence Santa Maria Novella Station, are frequent and predictable, be aware that you will need to walk approximately 1000 yards at the Termini Station to connect trains. Allow 20 minutes connection time at Termini Station when purchasing your onward Eurostar train ticket from the Airport Train Station ticket office.

Why not rent a car?
You most likely will spend less money, save time, have options to see a town or two (eat?)on the way to Florence and probably have less hassles.
