As I asked on you other thread - where exactly are you trying to get to? Northumberland is a very large county.

(much better title BTW )

OK - give us a hint. Where are Cheviot Hills Cottages? So far you've asked for directions to the Cheviot Hills, to Northumberland, and now to the Cheviot Hills Cottages. None of those are a "place" like a village or town. I assume the cottages are self-catering complex. If so - they usually include transport directions on the website.

I suppose I could go search for the site and do the homework for you - but where do they say they are??

OK - my curiosity got the better of me and I am doing your homework.

The Cottages are in Ingram near the National Park Visitors' Center. It is miles out in very rural countryside.

Gettingthere from Newcastle by public transport will be a slog. The nearest station Is Lesbury near Alnwick. This isn't a heavily populated area.

Nearest station is Alnmouth.

So book your train ticket to there.

From there you either get a bus into Alnwick then a taxi or you get a taxi from Alnmouth Station - Ingram is 3 miles off any bus route

The alternative is to hire a car from Newcastle and drive.

Assuming you are doing something apart from walking then you really do need a car in that area

Read alanRow's and my posts above. There is no train station and no bus comes closer than 3 miles.

As mentioed - this is a rural area. The cottages are not in a town, but a small village. There is virtually no public transportation.

To get to Ingram you really need a car as it is very rural and will need a car to get around Northumberland unless you are only staying in the major towns, even then the public transport is extremely limited especially on a Sunday!
